Represent Food Allergy Families with FARE’s Teal Pumpkin Project

What’s the best way to make sure that every child, including those with food allergies, enjoys trick-or-treating this Halloween? With most candy being off-limits, this can seem like a daunting task.

It turns out, however, that the solution is simple with FARE’s Teal Pumpkin Project! The idea is simple: offer non-food treats as an alternative to candy. Kids are bound to enjoy glow sticks or small toys in the midst of all their sweets. A testament to its success, The Teal Pumpkin Project had participants from 50 states and 14 countries last Halloween!

Follow these steps to fully take part in the movement, as listed by the FARE Teal Pumpkin Project website:

  1. Provide non-food treats for trick-or-treaters.
  2. Place a teal pumpkin in front of your home to indicate to passersby that you have non-food treats available.
  3. Display a free printable sign or premium poster from FARE to explain the meaning of your teal pumpkin.
  4. Make a donation to support the Teal Pumpkin Project and receive a free gift.

This Halloween, make teal the new orange!
